Metcash Trading Limited is seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Strategic SHE Manager QLD. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert guidance on safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, and processes to ensure effective injury management across our Food and Liquor business units operating in Queensland.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Safety leader who can drive the implementation of our Metcash SHE strategy, build capability with all levels of leadership, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in SHE leadership, preferably within FMCG, warehousing, distribution, or supply chain roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide SHE and Injury Management Support: Offer strategic advice and support to senior management on safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, and processes, ensuring effective injury management.
  • SHE Strategy Development and Implementation: Assist in developing and implementing the Metcash SHE Strategy and coordinate safety, health, wellbeing, and environmental initiatives locally.
  • Safety Culture at Site Level: Ensure the implementation of SHE processes at the site level, promoting a culture where safety is a core value.
  • Injury Management and Claims Strategy: Collaborate with the National Injury Management Advisor to define strategies for managing Queensland claims, including training return-to-work coordinators and overseeing employee care and rehabilitation.
  • Risk Management and Leadership Development: Actively manage safety, health, and environmental risks, building capability in business leaders to foster safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a safety leadership position.
  • Experience within FMCG, warehousing, distribution, or supply chain roles is preferred.
  • Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related discipline.
  • ICAM Lead Investigator Certification.
  • SHE Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with line management to build capability and safety.
