About This Opportunity

CQUniversity is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences.

This position offers a unique opportunity to study coastal and wetland birds, with a focus on the critically endangered Capricorn Yellow Chat. We welcome applicants with a PhD in Ecology, Ornithology, Zoology, Wildlife Biology or Conservation Biology, and those with specific research expertise in wetland or coastal birds will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research under limited supervision, either independently or as part of a team, contributing to conference and seminar papers and publications.
  • Participate in professional activities, including attending conferences and seminars, and undertake limited administrative functions related to your research.
  • Develop research-related material for teaching with guidance, conduct advanced experimental design and research procedures, and attend relevant meetings and committee memberships.

Requirements
  • Conduct research that aligns with the data requirements identified in the Capricorn Yellow Chat (Epthianura crocea macgregori) Recovery Action Plan, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Conduct research relating to wetland birds (may include water birds, shore birds and sea birds), particularly through fieldwork conducted in the central Queensland region, including in remote locations.
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce research outputs and attract research income.
