Make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with glaucoma

We are seeking an Orthoptist Patient Educator to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing our patient support program, providing guidance, education and unwavering support to those affected by glaucoma.

  • Provide comprehensive assistance to individuals with glaucoma, including timely response to inquiries via various channels, regular follow-ups and accurate record-keeping
  • Moderate online forums to ensure a safe and supportive community environment
  • Support events such as live webinars and workshops
  • Offer pre-sale and post-sale education and support regarding relevant eye health products available through our online store
  • Coordinate a team of dedicated students and volunteers, providing training and support to ensure they can effectively assist individuals with glaucoma
  • Represent us at industry events and conferences to promote our glaucoma program
  • Contribute to develop and coordinate a dedicated orthoptic student education program
  • Cultivate collaborative partnerships with healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical companies and peak bodies to advance organisational goals
  • Forge relationships with universities offering orthoptics and optometry programs to facilitate student placements
  • Develop alliances with major public hospitals and eye clinics to disseminate glaucoma education
  • Assist in organising local community education events in collaboration with health professionals and patients

The Ideal Candidate

  • A passion for eradicating glaucoma blindness
  • A warm, approachable and compassionate attitude
  • A minimum of 5 years clinical orthoptist experience in public or private healthcare
  • Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board
  • A proven track record of directly assisting glaucoma patients in clinical environments
  • Demonstrated ability to provide educational guidance and support to individuals with glaucoma, as well as their families and caregivers
  • An openness to undergo health and genetic counselling training, with awareness of mental health issues
