SHEQ Specialist

Ventia is seeking an experienced SHEQ Advisor to implement, monitor, and govern SHEQ programs, systems, and processes for our Defence contract. This 12-month fixed-term role is based at Keswick Barracks and requires a Defence Security Clearance. The successful candidate must be an Australian Citizen.

• Review contractor project documentation to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Collaborate with Ventia project officers to ensure construction works adhere to safety protocols.
• Conduct field inspections and audits on contractor works and management systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, adhering to legislations, regulations, and standards.
• Investigate safety-related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract leadership team.
• Maintain risk assessments and risk registers, managing records in accordance with Company requirements.

• Formal training in incident investigation ICAM methodology.
• Construction Induction card.
• Suitable experience as a safety professional in construction safety, with the required technical skills and knowledge to perform the role.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture.
• Demonstrated experience in safety, environment, or quality roles, with detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards within a high-risk construction environment.
• Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimize risk, and drive continuous improvement.
