Medical Intensivist

At Mater Health Services, we are seeking suitably qualified Medical Officers to join our dynamic team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mater Private Hospital Townsville.

This is an exciting opportunity for anaesthetics/ICU or ED trained registrars looking for a well-supported experience in a friendly, patient-focused ICU in beautiful North Queensland.

The ICU operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with Career Medical Officers rostered on for day shifts of 11 hours long and night shifts of 14 hours long.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing critically ill patients in a Level 6, ten bed tertiary ICU under the guidance of experienced intensivists.
• Rostered on for day shifts of 11 hours long and night shifts of 14 hours long, ensuring seamless care delivery around the clock.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

• Registered Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
• Three years post graduate experience; including three months preferably six months in anaesthesia; in addition, at least six months experience in ICU and/or ED.
• Skilled in airway management including bag/valve/mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway placement.
• Demonstrated skill in the placement of arterial lines and central venous catheters.
