Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Archivist to join our team at RMIT University. As a key member of our Collection Management department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the preservation and accessibility of our historical and cultural heritage.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing donations and transfers of records to our Archives, as well as coordinating our Annual Disposal program. You will have expertise in archival systems, data management, and digital preservation, and be able to apply your skills to drive innovation and continuous improvement in our work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage donations and transfers of records to RMIT University Archives
- Coordinate the Annual Disposal program
- Apply technical skills and knowledge of archival systems to support legislative requirements and internal policies
- Liaise with diverse stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in archival practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this position, you will possess:
- A high degree of technical skills and knowledge of archival systems
- Strong skills in manipulating and managing data
- An excellent understanding of current and emerging practices in archives, digitisation, and digital preservation
- Demonstrated record of innovation and commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong problem-solving skills, including critical analysis and evaluation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders
- Proven record of adopting a flexible approach to work and adapting to a constantly changing environment
- Project management skills and experience
