The Dining Room is the signature restaurant of Park Hyatt Sydney. The restaurant offers a luxurious harbour side dining experience, bathed in natural light, with magical views of Sydney Harbour, Circular Quay and the iconic Sydney Opera House.

About the Role

  • Assists the Hotel Sommelier to curate and maintain a wine list for the restaurant, bar and other food and beverage outlets, enhancing the cuisine and offering a broad spectrum of wines.
  • Assists the Hotel Sommelier to procure, store and manage wine inventory.
  • Assists the Hotel Sommelier to organize wines prior to and during service.
  • Ensures the cellar and wine cool room are stocked at all times, with wines stored in the appropriate manner.
  • Provides guests with clear, helpful advice and recommendations on wine pairings, taking into consideration the flavors and ingredients of the items ordered.
  • Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
  • Handles guest inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, reporting guest complaints or problems to supervisors if there is no immediate solution.
  • Develops a passion for wines and a willingness to learn about wine and drinks or sommelier-related studies.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Current NSW RSA Certificate.
  • Strong food and beverage service skills.
  • Sufficient experience as waiting staff or assistant sommelier in a fine dining restaurant or similar environment.
