About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Software Engineer to join our multi-year Enterprise Transformation Program at Commonwealth Bank.

As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering an ambitious vision to create enduring technology differentiation with unmatched digital experiences built on decoupled, resilient, and reliable technology foundations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide core technology and domain expertise to inform technical strategy and be responsible for the design of solutions for complex challenges within a business unit.
  • Take a strong risk mindset and ensure security from the first line of code approach.
  • Guide team members to invest in their own engineering craft and mentor them to build world-class applications.
  • Design and implement solutions to complex problems, including onboarding and migrating to new tooling as well as removing obsolete systems and code.
  • Encourage risk-taking and constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams.
Requirements
  • Developing 3-tier applications both on-premises and on cloud covering frontend, backend, and database.
  • Experience with React and Redux (preferred) or Angular, Net Core (preferred), C#, SQL and No SQL, microservices design, and implementation of highly scalable APIs.
  • Scripting/programming languages, CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code, automated quality engineering and testing, solution and system design, application security, observability, and code quality control.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers, configuration management, and containerization.
