Software Developer Role Overview

This role involves working as a software developer on various teams at Canonical. As a Golang engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing well-tested and documented software in Go.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-quality software in Go
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and fix issues encountered by users
  • Participate in the engineering process through code reviews and architectural discussions
  • Contribute to technical specifications and improvements
  • Develop skills in areas such as performance engineering and security
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM field, or alternative path with compelling narrative
  • Drive and ability to go above expectations
  • Well-organized and self-starting with strong delivery capabilities
  • Professional manner when interacting with colleagues and community
  • Experience in designing and writing high-quality Golang software on Linux
  • Knowledge of Linux at the system level
  • For more senior roles, experience building, deploying, and operating distributed systems and APIs
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
