The OpportunityAshurst's Corporate Transactions team is seeking a Lawyer or Senior Associate with a minimum of 4 years' experience to join our Sydney office. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for advising clients on Australian legal requirements and providing strategic advice on complex corporate transactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day matters and progressing them with partner support
- Advising clients on Australian legal requirements and providing commercial and strategic advice
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents and agreements
- Leading negotiations with counterparties and liaising with corporate and accounting advisers
- Attending business development meetings and networking activities
- Contributing to and refining department know-how
- Nurturing and mentoring junior lawyers
We are looking for a candidate with:
- 4+ years' commercial experience gained within a top-tier or mid-tier firm, or in-house
- Strong experience in cradle-to-grave commercial transactions, ideally gained within, or with some exposure to, the energy industry
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and innovative drafting skills
- Confidence to lead effective negotiations with clients and counterparties
- Strong ability to communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide practical solutions
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies
- Ability to build team morale and motivate team members
