Teaching and Learning Expert

The department of education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced teaching professional to join the team as a Teaching and Learning Leader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model exemplary teaching practices with a strong focus on literacy and differentiation, enhancing student learning outcomes across the curriculum.
  • Provide demonstration lessons and coaching to support implementation of effective literacy strategies, particularly at Years 7 and 8, fostering improved academic performance.
  • Promote literacy across the curriculum through cross-disciplinary collaboration, ensuring all subjects align with the Victorian curriculum standards.
  • Facilitate professional learning aligned to key research-based literacy approaches and intervention strategies, developing staff capacity in literacy instruction.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to develop and implement whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery, streamlining educational processes.
  • Lead professional learning sessions and support team planning to incorporate literacy improvement strategies, promoting cohesive instructional practices.
  • Build professional trust and collaboration among teaching staff to support shared goals for student achievement, promoting a positive work environment.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and teaching methodologies, ensuring alignment with Victorian Institute of Teaching standards.
  • Ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum, contributing to student success.
  • Experience in implementing and modeling high-impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs, improving student engagement and motivation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community, promoting effective partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Qualification to teach and/or experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position, ensuring expertise in subject matter.
