Sterilisation plays a crucial role in maintaining patient safety and preventing healthcare-associated infections.

As a Sterilisation Technician, you will be responsible for reprocessing reusable medical devices used in a hospital-based central sterilising department. This involves collecting contaminated devices, transporting sterile stock, decontaminating and inspecting devices, thermal disinfection, packing, sterilisation, and storage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and processing contaminated devices
  • Transporting and storing sterile stock
  • Decontaminating and inspecting devices
  • Thermal disinfection and packaging
  • Sterilisation and storage of devices

To succeed in this role, you will require a strong understanding of sterilisation principles and practices. A Certificate III in Sterilisation Technology is essential, as well as recent experience working in a sterile services department.
