Job Title: Chief Business Development Officer

The Chief Business Development Officer will report directly to the CEO in Australia and functionally to the Group Chief Business Development Officer internationally.

The role will be based in Melbourne, with a new office location being finalized. The position is expected to be hybrid.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and identify investment opportunities in Australia, evaluate, secure, and bring to completion.
  • Develop brownfield and greenfield projects, with thorough knowledge of the Australian power sector market.
  • Involve in commercial discussions for existing renewable energy portfolios in Australia.
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders, including IPPs, investors, banks, regulators, off-takers, and market service providers.
  • Communicate potential opportunities, leads, and contacts to the Group Chief Business Development Officer and team members.

The incumbent will act as the first point of contact with business partners and filter opportunities to identify technically viable and profitable ones.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a proven track record in sourcing and executing power sector investments in the Australian electricity markets.
  • Lead all aspects of transactions, including deal structuring, commercial negotiations, financial valuation, and transaction execution.
  • Negotiate key project contracts, including connection agreements, EPC, O&M contracts, and understand legal aspects of documentation.
  • Continually raise performance standards and expectations.
  • Build relationships and establish credibility as a trusted advisor for colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Research and analyze business trends in regional markets.
  • Assist in developing and launching new project opportunities.
  • Structure divisions, organize work, establish priorities, and allocate resources when planning the work of others.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. A Master's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of Business Development experience, with 5 years in renewable energy and 3 years in a similar position.
