Job Title: Financial Controller

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our hotel's financial operations.

 

About the Role:

  • Oversight of daily finance operations, including payroll, accounts payable / receivable, and month-end reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax and legislative requirements.
  • Deliver accurate financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to ownership and leadership stakeholders.
  • Drive efficiency and continuous improvement across financial systems and processes.
  • Support and mentor team members, building knowledge of hotel finance and fostering career progression.
  • Lead audits and ensure best practice compliance.
  • Partner with operational leaders to optimise departmental performance, with a focus on labour costs and departmental P&Ls.
  • Engage confidently with owners, auditors, and external stakeholders in a highly transparent environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA / CPA desirable.
  • Previous hotel or hospitality finance experience essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge of P&L management, general ledger, and tax legislation.
  • Proficiency with hospitality finance systems (e.g., Sun Systems, Opera, Zambion, or similar).
  • A collaborative leader with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a small finance team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Culturally aligned – approachable, humble, and team-oriented with no ego.
