Job Description

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead the implementation of complex air traffic control systems.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical project that will improve safety, efficiency, and capacity in joint Air Traffic Management processes and procedures.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading an integrated team and managing all planning, governance, risk, and reporting aspects of the Capability Life Cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities, and operational practices in support of Defence objectives based on legislative frameworks, Defence guidelines, and regulations.
  • Fostering and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Planning and implementing complex product schedules and budgets.
  • Preparing briefings, submissions, reports, and returns relating to project progress and issues.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in project management relating to highly complex programs.
  • Effective problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills.
  • The ability to manage and lead a diverse high-performing team.
  • The capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • High-level organisational skills, self-drive, and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
  • Sound commercial and business acumen and a demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry sector in Australia.
Benefits

This role offers a salary range of AU$140,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits, including opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

You will also have access to a premium remuneration benefit known as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA).
