About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at New Hope Group. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing successful health and safety system initiatives, setting the strategic direction of the safety function for the New Acland Mine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Reporting and Auditing: Complete HST reporting and audit requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Incident Investigation and Analysis: Coordinate and assist in investigating incident causes and implementation action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Health and Safety Documentation and Training: Support and facilitate the maintenance of all Health and Safety documentation, policies, and procedures, and coordinate and deliver training to new starters in best practice risk management processes.
  • Emergency Response and Compliance: Coordinate and audit Emergency Response systems and processes, and coordinate and auditing of first aid, mines rescue, and fire equipment.
  • Contractor Management and Compliance: Support Contract Manager/s with routine inspections of contractors to verify compliance to SHEMs.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications and Experience: Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or similar, and demonstrated site-based mining industry experience in a WHS capacity (5 years minimum).
  • Knowledge and Application of Regulations: Extensive knowledge and application of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act including relevant regulations, guidelines, and Australian Standards.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: People management and leadership experience, excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with front line leaders and workforce, and high level judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving capability.
