Job Title: Flinders Shire Road Operations Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to join our Flinders Shire team as a Road Operations Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for operating plant/fleet, undertaking labouring duties, and contributing to the delivery of Council's operational and strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be required to maintain a high level of professionalism and provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate plant/fleet safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines;
  • Undertake labouring duties, including installation of road signs, guide posts, weed management, digging trenches, removing debris, and preparing work sites in accordance with traffic and other management plans;
  • Maintain assigned plant/fleet, ensuring they are well-presented, tidy, and secure;
  • Ensure all daily checks of plant/fleet are completed, advising on repairs/maintenance requirements;
  • Develop and maintain positive communications between Council departments and teams;
  • Provide high-level customer service, ensuring a positive reflection with members of the public is maintained;
  • Participate in team/Council meetings, sharing knowledge and skills with colleagues.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in operating plant/fleet, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines;
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant training or qualifications in plant operation, maintenance, or a related field;
  • A current driver's license and a willingness to obtain additional certifications/qualifications as required;
  • A commitment to maintaining a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics in all aspects of work.
