About the Role

The Senior Asset Capacity Engineer at Jemena is responsible for providing engineering and technical services to support the growth and operations of gas assets. This role applies Asset Capacity theory to analyze and evaluate assets and their sub-components, identifying requirements for optimization.

Collaborating with other Jemena teams, the Asset Capacity Engineer develops initiatives and strategies to optimize costs, improve efficiency, and streamline processes across the Gas Markets asset base. This involves an iterative and recursive problem-solving process considering trade-offs between individual assets and whole asset capacity.

The Asset Capacity engineering approach is fundamental to delivering high-performing, fit-for-purpose, and cost-effective asset capacity, ensuring the optimal supply of gas to Jemena's customers while maintaining safety, reliability, integrity, and long-term value of gas assets.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of existing asset operations and asset capacity to establish a base for developing process and asset system improvements.
  • Identifying and evaluating asset capacity and their sub-components, defining requirements for asset optimization.
  • Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data to produce information used to assess present and future asset and system performance.
  • Developing and analyzing asset information and models to identify limitations and debottlenecking initiatives to optimize asset operation and performance.
  • Developing and updating capacity reports for Gas Markets assets for external publishing and use in contracting each asset.
  • Providing engineering services throughout the project life cycle, including developing scope of works, investment proposals, and project-related documentation to support delivery.
  • Providing planning/modeling support for planned and unplanned outages on all Gas Markets Assets.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting, developing response actions, operational guidelines, and implementing solutions for unplanned outages.
  • Supporting incident/near-miss investigations relating to equipment failure or supply interruptions.
  • Supporting Gas Markets as a subject matter expert for Asset Capacity, capacity, and pipeline modeling.
  • Actively engaged in obtaining and maintaining engineering accreditation and competency development.

About You:

Substantial experience as a member of a team undertaking system engineering for at least one asset system.

  • Broad understanding of commercial and technical interactions/requirements enabling sound asset management principles in planning, design, and optimization of assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, analyze, isolate, and interpret business needs.
  • Technical experience in developing effective and optimal capacity designs through complex modeling processes.
  • Sound knowledge of general commercial constraints and requirements, standard pipeline products, and contracts.
  • Sound engineering knowledge to develop a detailed understanding of technical system constraints.
  • Hands-on experience in creating and maintaining complex databases, including front-end interfaces.
  • Experience in developing detailed documentation of business requirements, detailed options analysis, financial analysis, process modeling, and business case development.
  • Demonstrable and comprehensive experience of contemporary analysis techniques and tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, consultation, change management, document, and report writing skills.
