Role RequirementsThis is a fixed-term contract opportunity, and the successful candidate will be required to have current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. The role involves working with a dynamic and collaborative research team to develop and implement an advanced research program in rock physics.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an advanced research program in rock physics.
- Design and conduct experiments to measure rock properties under varying conditions.
- Enhance and maintain laboratory equipment for seismic and ultrasonic testing.
- Analyse rock deformation and fluid distribution using advanced imaging techniques.
- Publish research findings and secure external funding.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to geophysics teaching at Curtin University.
- PhD in physics, materials science, geophysics or a related discipline.
- Record of excellence in experimental rock physics research.
- Experience in developing and building forced-oscillation equipment.
- Experience in developing and building equipment for measuring elastic properties of rocks.
- Experience in measurements and analysis of elastic and viscoelastic properties of rocks.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the research team and external stakeholders.
