Health Equity Coordinator for Aboriginal Cancer Services

The Health Equity Coordinator provides support, guidance, and referral of Aboriginal clients, family members, and carers to access timely and appropriate services for cancer management.

The role ensures care coordination for each person is informed by factors such as connection to land, gender, kinship, inter-generational trauma, family ties, language barriers, and socio-economic issues.

The position aims to improve access, equity, and health care for Aboriginal people with cancer, promoting patient-centred care and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, facilitating 'closing the gap' between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal cancer outcomes.

  • Support Aboriginal clients, family members, and carers to access timely and appropriate services for cancer management
  • Provide guidance and referral to optimise cancer prevention and management utilising Optimal Care Pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer
  • Ensure care coordination is informed by factors such as connection to land, gender, kinship, inter-generational trauma, family ties, language barriers, and socio-economic issues
