The Role

The APS 6 Logistics Technical Assessor will be accountable for a variety of activities, including:

  • Codifying and cataloguing new items of supply in accordance with Defence Logistics policy;
  • Maintaining existing catalogue data to ensure compliance with policy, processes, and procedures that support the acquisition and sustainment of equipment in accordance with Defence requirements;
  • Managing Obsolescence, including identifying Technical substitutions;
  • Managing the ACTSS AC990 process, ensuring items managed by CA64 product schedule are appropriate;
  • Providing Technical Assessor advice relating to item management;
  • Assisting the ACTSS Disposal Manager with Technical data/information as requested in support of Disposal processes;
  • Generating responses to complex correspondence, briefs, and reports for higher delegate consideration;
  • Demonstrating knowledge of current Defence materiel logistics policies and applying this in the support of sustainment and acquisition activities;
  • Building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders at the operational and business unit level;
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve materiel logistics issues;
  • Resolving problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
About our Team

The Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) purpose is to deliver military aviation systems to the capability managers. AASB is responsible for the acquisition and through-life support of all Army helicopters and tactical unmanned aerial systems through both Project Offices (PO) and Systems Program Offices (SPO) within Australia and overseas.

  • Experience in Logistics Technical Assessing, including performing codification and cataloguing in support of ACTSS Products;
  • Ability to interpret and comply with legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks;
  • Experience in identifying and implementing timely outcome-based solutions to complex problems;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a dynamic team environment;
  • Strong stakeholder management and people skills;
  • Good level of computer literacy, including with inventory management systems.
