Diverse Learning Teacher Primary Job Description

The role of a Diverse Learning Teacher is to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and challenging learning environment. This involves implementing fair and equitable behavior management plans, interpreting and using student assessment data to diagnose barriers to learning, and challenging students to improve their performance.

Key responsibilities include engaging with the school community within and beyond the classroom, enriching the educational context for students, and promoting the links between school, home, and community in the social and intellectual development of students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate passion for transformational education, integrated into the curriculum and delivered in a faith-based environment. They will also possess well-developed communication, administration, and interpersonal skills.

Experience and interest in supporting students with diverse learning needs may be advantageous. The candidate should have knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), and Disability Standards for Education 2005.

They will also need to experience completing personalized plans for students with a range of diverse needs, supporting diverse learners from Years 5-12 within agile spaces, and facilitating staff development and parent education programs including staff meeting presentations, professional learning, and parent information sessions.

A Special/Inclusive Education qualification is desirable, as is a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE). The candidate must comply with NSW Child Protection Legislation (Working with Children Check clearance) and be eligible according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). A tertiary qualification (minimum 4-year degree or 75% complete) is also required.

Besides the above requirements, our ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work effectively in a team, and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
