Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist - Behavioural and Mental Health

Doutta Galla Aged Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality care to our residents with complex and challenging mental health, dementia, or other neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead behavioural and mental health quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop and review behavioural care/support plans
  • Provide education and support to staff on preventative behaviour management
  • Direct, supervise, and coach employees on behavioural care plans
  • Lead behavioural assessments and screenings for residents on admission
  • Participate in case conferences and monthly care statements for residents with behavioural and/or mental health issues
  • Liaise with leadership teams, direct care staff, families, and external stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Five (5) years recent experience as a Registered Nurse in residential aged care and/or mental health
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for dementia, delirium, depression, and other mental health issues
  • Well-developed physical and behavioural assessment skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills for early detection, intervention, and prevention of responsive behaviours
  • Well-developed understanding of non-pharmacological and therapeutic behavioural approaches
  • Strong clinical governance knowledge and current knowledge on best practice
