Android Software Engineering Lead

Join us as we seek an experienced developer to lead our engineering team in North Sydney on a permanent full-time basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering high-quality Android applications, setting coding standards, guiding architectural decisions and working closely with Product, Design, QA and offshore teams to build mobile products that delight our customers.

You will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of high-quality Android applications, make architectural and technology decisions aligned with best practices (MVVM, Jetpack, Kotlin Coroutines), establish and enforce Android coding standards, code quality practices and CI/CD integration.

You will collaborate with offshore and onshore teams to ensure consistent code quality and development velocity, own the technical roadmap and contribute to sprint planning, estimations and release strategies.

You will guide release management and app submission to the Play Store, ensuring a smooth deployment process.

  • You will have 6+ years' experience in Android development, with at least 1–2 years in a senior or lead role
  • You will be an expert in Kotlin and the Android SDK, with strong knowledge of Android Architecture Components, Jetpack, MVVM, and Dependency Injection (Hilt/Dagger)
  • You will be proficient integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and working with authentication frameworks (OAuth, JWT)
  • You will have experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and mobile testing frameworks
  • You will have strong problem-solving skills and a passion for clean, maintainable architecture
  • You will have experience mentoring engineers and working with offshore or remote teams
  • You will have published apps on the Play Store and have a solid understanding of mobile app performance, monitoring, and analytics
Key Requirements
  • Senior Android Developer with 6+ years' experience
  • Expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, Android Architecture Components, Jetpack, MVVM, and Dependency Injection
  • Proficiency in integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and authentication frameworks
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline management and mobile testing frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and passion for clean architecture
  • Mentoring and teamwork experience
  • Published apps on the Play Store with a solid understanding of mobile app performance and analytics
