About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Stonnington. As a Building Inspector - Pool Safety, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our community by inspecting and certifying swimming pool and spa safety barriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the administration and enforcement of swimming pool and spa registration and certification processes in accordance with relevant legislative requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to practitioners and members of the public on relevant legislative requirements.
  • Conduct proactive inspections of swimming pool and spa risks and dangers, and non-compliance with Council work plans and policies.
  • Respond effectively to complaints and concerns from members of the public, governance, and business units.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and develop policy options for consideration.
  • Represent the Council at hearings at the Building Appeals Board.
Requirements
  • High level knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, and associated Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, Local Laws, Government and Council Policies.
  • Proven experience in exercising building control functions, including enforcement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team.
  • Capacity to work autonomously, setting priorities and delivering desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in communication and problem solving.
  • Registration as a building practitioner in the category of Building Inspector (Unlimited, Limited or Pool Safety) and relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Current Victoria Driver's Licence.
