Staff Specialist Opportunity in Emergency Medicine

This position offers a challenging and dynamic work environment for an experienced Staff Specialist in the Emergency Department at Mackay Base Hospital. As part of the Clinical Services team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care to our patients.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical services within the department, supporting the Clinical Director with medical administration requirements, and participating in in-service training programs. You will also be expected to provide clinical supervision and teaching opportunities for junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values and standards.
- Ensure high-quality safe services and workplaces by following defined service quality standards and occupational health and safety policies.
- Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service's Health and Safety Management System.
Working Conditions
The Emergency Department has a varied case mix, including 25% paediatrics and a significant trauma caseload. You will work in a regional referral centre with 50,000 presentations per annum, supporting satellite hospitals and rural sites through Telehealth and in-person consultations.

An active and successful postgraduate education and training program is available, accredited for ACEM fellowship training and RACGP training.
