We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our team in native vegetation and pastoral management.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work with us in South Australia, focused on biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use. As a visionary leader, you will guide our efforts in environmental stewardship and governance.
You will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for our Native Vegetation and Pastoral Land Management Branch, ensuring alignment with environmental goals and community needs.
This role offers a unique platform to influence policy, foster a collaborative culture, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans for native vegetation and pastoral land management.
- Advise senior executives on complex matters related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use.
- Foster a positive work environment by nurturing talent and driving innovation.
- Represent us at state, national, and international forums to advocate for our interests in environmental conservation and land management.
- Establish partnerships with local communities, Aboriginal Nations, NGOs, industry stakeholders, and government agencies to achieve shared goals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and maintain robust governance practices.
- Lead transformational programs supporting our objectives and advancing departmental priorities in environmental stewardship.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in natural resource management, environmental science, law, or public policy, with extensive experience in the public sector or similar environments.
- Proven ability to navigate complex environments, emphasizing collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated strategic planning skills, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term sustainability goals.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills in politically sensitive environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental governance, including legislative compliance and policy development.
