Murdoch University is seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Research Officer to join our team at the Murdoch University Centre for Computational and Systems Medicine (CCSM). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and application of high-fidelity computational and statistical modelling pipelines for metabolic phenotyping in clinical research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and ensure the integrity of data sets, providing data-driven solutions to solve specific problems leveraging existing analytics tools and techniques, including Python, MATLAB, and R Programming.
  • Perform extensive data processing of metabolic phenotyping acquired on both NMR and MS platforms, including ongoing assessment of data quality.
  • Conduct a range of statistical analyses (both univariate and multivariate) of the acquired data.
  • Participate in the research and development of new data analysis pipelines for the processing or biostatistical interrogation of data derived from MS and NMRs.
  • Disseminate research output in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and public forums, and support the preparation of project reports and grant applications as requested.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of metabolic phenotyping bioinformatics.
Requirements
  • Doctorate (or equivalent experience) in Chemometrics, Bioinformatics, or related fields, with a strong focus on applied statistics.
  • Professional experience in data analysis, data modelling, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Track record of applying mathematical analysis to interrogate spectroscopic data, using relevant techniques such as pattern recognition, multivariate regression, and machine learning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, and JavaScript.
  • Practical experience in analysing high-dimensional data, especially data derived from MS and NMR spectroscopy, and visualisation of results.
