We are seeking an experienced and multiskilled Scientific Officer/Technical Officer to join our high-performing team in a multidisciplinary laboratory located in Tamworth on a part-time basis.
Key Responsibilities- Perform duties across disciplines in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Biochemistry.
- Communicate effectively with patients, clinical, and laboratory staff.
- Validate results and provide comprehensive reports to assist with client or clinical decisions in a time-critical manner.
- Have a well-rounded understanding of Quality control and Quality Management across various departments and a solid understanding of NATA requirements/ISO 15189.
- Perform regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on instrumentation, equipment, and manual techniques and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in regular training for relevant techniques and instrument operation and engage in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance initiatives.
- Collaborate with Laboratory Manager and the Chief Scientists from Core Laboratory to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement.
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or Diploma of Health Science (Pathology Techniques) or equivalent.
- Ability to work Monday-Saturday rotating roster as well as participating in an on-call roster.
- Previous experience in a multidisciplinary clinical laboratory desired.
- A Current NSW Drivers Licence.
- Recent experience in Haematology, Haemostasis, Transfusion medicine, and Biochemistry.
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
