Environmental Compliance Specialist

**About the Role**
Whitehaven Coal is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our HSE team. Reporting to the Superintendent Group – Environment, this role provides direct support and governance to ensure our operational sites comply with environmental regulations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide timely advice to operational sites Environment Teams to support compliance requirements
- Develop and implement environmental improvement projects to support HSE strategic initiatives
- Provide direct support to the maintenance and improvement of environmental compliance outcomes
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and increase value through data analysis and risk
- Review legislative updates and changes that may affect environmental compliance outcomes
**Requirements**
- Degree qualifications in Environmental Sciences or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, heavy industry / mining industry experience preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory processes in the mining sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and great attention to detail
