About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Content Editor to join our team at Deakin University. As a key member of our Invergowrie STEM Hub project, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating digital content development and production to deliver STEM learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of new content development for the STEM Hub project, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with a team of content creators and academic experts to develop fresh, engaging content ideas and storyboarding techniques tailored to our target audience.
  • Supervise and work with content writers and freelance contributors to facilitate growth and development, providing balanced and constructive feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance organisational strategy by drawing on diverse resources and expertise.
  • Research, brief, write, edit, and review digital content for web, email, and landing pages, ensuring consistency in style, quality, and tone-of-voice.
  • Ensure content from external partners aligns with the STEM Hub's needs and goals.
  • Consult with stakeholders and experts to improve content quality and presentation.
  • Manage web content review and maintenance to ensure the public website remains up-to-date and meets changing needs.
  • Analyze data and analytics to monitor website traffic and increase user engagement.
  • Apply knowledge of SEO and industry best practices in content development and editing.
  • Represent the organisation at research-based workshops, launches, meetings, and press events.
  • Ensure content compliance with copyright and privacy regulations.
Requirements
  • A degree with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
  • Proven work experience as a web content editor.
  • Understanding and experience in creating content for education audiences, including children, educators, and/or parents/carers.
  • Editing skills with a demonstrable portfolio of published work.
  • Hands-on experience with digital content creation tools, including InDesign and Photoshop.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with writing skills in English.
  • Proficient in desktop publishing software, Microsoft Office, and Social Media platforms.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing complex projects and diverse teams are desirable.
