Job Title: Obstetric and Gynaecological Specialist

Job Description:

This is a challenging opportunity to provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment.

The primary purpose of this role is to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients presenting with various conditions or stages of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.

The ideal candidate will have completed 4 years of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) program and successfully completed the FRANZCOG Fellowship exam. They will also possess sufficient clinical experience to undertake clinical duties for rotations and proficiency in basic and advanced life support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients presenting with various conditions or stages of pregnancy or the puerperium;
  2. Provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment;
  3. Develop higher professional maturity and professionalism during the RANZCOG Advanced Training Program;
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across facilities to plan, deliver and coordinate patient care;
  5. Participate in 24-hour shift work rosters;
  6. Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical audiences;
  7. Manage competing priorities in a complex environment;
  8. Demonstrate commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management;
  9. Make sound decisions and problem-solve with an awareness of limitations;
  10. Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification;
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate category;
  • Completion of 4 years of the FRANZCOG program;
  • Successful completion of the FRANZCOG Fellowship exam;
  • Sufficient clinical experience for rotations and proficiency in basic and advanced life support.
