About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Project Manager/Strategic Program Officer/Community Preparedness Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our organization and contribute to the development and delivery of strategic risk awareness and community preparedness programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project plans, coordinate resources, manage budgets, and ensure all reporting requirements are met.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders through strong communication, negotiation, and issue management to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Monitor and assess all aspects of project implementation, including risk management, benefits realisation, and quality measures.
  • Manage project teams, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, and guiding the team towards achieving key milestones and outcomes.
  • Conduct research, provide evidence-based recommendations, and offer advice to stakeholders to support project development and delivery.
Requirements
  • Expertise in project management, including experience in developing, driving, and implementing strategies and programs.
  • Knowledge of emergency management arrangements and associated NSW legislation, or the ability to quickly build this understanding.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in project management or change management, in order to develop, drive and implement relevant strategies and programs.
  • Familiarity with community development principles and best practices, and knowledge of local community dynamics and issues.

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice is a statutory corporation within Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Our organization will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster. We will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
