Head Sommelier Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Sommelier to join our team at a prestigious fine dining restaurant and bar in Terrigal. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for curating and managing all aspects of the beverage offering, including wine selection, service, and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wine distributors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Design and implement a diverse and appealing wine list that caters to different tastes and preferences.
  • Collaborate with chefs to create wine pairings that complement the menu.
  • Maintain accurate records of wine inventory, including purchases, stock levels, and financial transactions.
  • Monitor wine cellar conditions and ensure proper storage to preserve quality.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and education through personalized wine recommendations and pairings.
  • Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and customers to promote wine knowledge and appreciation.
  • Assist in the creation and operation of wine events within the hotel.
Requirements:
  • WSET Level 2 or above.
  • Proven experience as a sommelier or similar role in a fine dining restaurant or upscale establishment.
  • Extensive knowledge of different types of wines, regions, and vintages.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Management experience will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the hospitality industry.
