Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Trainee

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Trainee. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles, while also developing your technical skills and knowledge.
About the Role
- This is an entry-level position that requires a strong commitment to learning and professional development.
- You will work under the supervision of experienced mechanics to develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as engine repair, transmission maintenance, and electrical systems.
- You will be required to learn how to diagnose and repair complex problems with heavy vehicles, including manual and automatic transmissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire knowledge and understanding of repairs, maintenance, manufacture, installation skills in the areas of light vehicles, heavy vehicles (including automatic and manual transmissions), light fabrication (sheet metal) and auto electrical.
- Learn how to repair vehicles through formal training sessions and hands on work experience, under the supervision of trained light and heavy vehicle mechanics.
- Competently and safely use hand and specialised tools including electronic diagnostic equipment, ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Participate in ongoing manufacturer and in-house training to maintain competencies and acquire a trade certificate in the area of heavy vehicle road transport.

What We're Looking For
- A valid driver's licence and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.
- Eligibility for enrolment in or progression towards achievement of the relevant Trade Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
- A commitment to completing a four year apprenticeship and obtaining a nationally recognised qualification.
