About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Trattoria Amici Italian Restaurant. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading by example and ensuring the kitchen runs seamlessly. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Producing high-quality food products that meet our 5-star standards
  2. Effectively managing and leading a team of chefs to achieve our culinary goals
  3. Communicating with the kitchen and food & beverage team to ensure seamless service
  4. Placing orders on time, managing stock requisitions, and maintaining a strong understanding of food costs
  5. Contributing to events, promotions, and displays to enhance the dining experience
  6. Developing and maintaining maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  7. Contributing to the financial viability and sustainability of the restaurant
  8. Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  9. Ensuring a safe working environment for all team members

What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Experience in a senior chef role in a 4-5 star hotel/resort, Italian restaurant, or similar environment
  2. Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery qualification
  3. Leadership experience with a strong focus on producing high-quality food and presentation
  4. Train the trainer, First Aid, and HACCP training or safe food handling certificate (desirable)
  5. Commitment to delivering 5-star customer service, motivated, and a drive to succeed
  6. Attention to detail, strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to work well with others and thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  8. Physical ability to perform the requirements of the role, including working on your feet and heavy lifting
  9. Excellent personal presentation
