About the Role:


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Specialist to join our dynamic team in Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre.


This is a permanent vacancy with multiple fixed-term full-time and part-time positions available. The successful candidate will work up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.


The role involves working under limited direction and supervision of the Director - Emergency Department, with responsibilities including:


  • Patient Care and Management
  • Teaching and Supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Trainees
  • Maintaining Research Activities
  • Administrative and Quality Improvement

About the Hospital:


Our tertiary referral hospital is the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine, providing most specialist medical services for the region and state. The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialties and handles approximately 75,000 presentations per year.


The Department has over 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies, working together as a dynamic team with a strong focus on collegiality.

Requirements:


  • Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to provide services within ED at a tertiary referral teaching hospital
  • Demonstrated capacity for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Ability to undertake and manage research activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Knowledge of recent advances in relevant medical areas

Package:


The base salary for this position ranges from $210,000 to $288,000, with further increments available. Additionally, the successful candidate will be eligible for a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or an allowance in lieu of $27,535 per annum, paid fortnightly, as well as a Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 per annum, relocation allowance, and on-call allowance percentage of base salary.
