Key Role in Mental Health Education

Our hospital is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse to take on the critical role of Clinical Nurse Educator within our Mental Health Service. This key position plays a pivotal part in ensuring that new staff, graduates, and students are properly oriented, inducted, and briefed on their roles and responsibilities during clinical placements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe practice environment, ensuring the well-being of patients and staff alike. Additionally, they will provide guidance and support to graduates and staff to apply problem-solving and reflective skills in their clinical practice.

Some of the essential duties of this role include:

  • Orientating new staff, graduates, and students to the facility and their roles and responsibilities during clinical placements
  • Maintaining a safe practice environment and ensuring the safety of patients and staff
  • Assisting graduates and staff to develop problem-solving and reflective skills in their clinical practice
  • Identifying learning needs of staff within the mental health service
  • Providing expert clinical advice and professional role modeling
  • Ensuring high standards of evidence-based nursing care are promoted throughout the service
  • Supervising staff compliance with mandatory training and eLearning components
  • Preparing written reports for graduate nurses and conducting CPD sessions
  • Liaising closely with the Education Services Department
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent qualification
  • Current registration as a nurse with AHPRA
  • Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in the area of specialty
  • High-level clinical skills and proven experience in primary area of practice
  • Excellent communication skills and high degree of computer literacy
  • Ability to work independently and take accountability for performance and behavior
  • Cert IV TAE, or working towards certification
