As a Content Strategist, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing a content strategy that aligns with the organisation's strategic objectives. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that quality content is developed across teams and meets the needs of users.
The successful candidate will have experience in content design, digital content management, or content strategy in a government or complex organisational setting. They will also have an understanding of the Digital Service Standard, Australian Government Style Manual, and WCAG accessibility requirements.
The key duties and responsibilities of this role include:
1. Leading the content refresh of the website, ensuring all content is user-centered, plain language, and aligned with government standards.
2. Auditing, reviewing, and rewriting existing content to improve readability, accessibility, and usability, as well as developing new content as required.
3. Applying content design principles, including structured content, information hierarchy, and consistent tone of voice.
4. Contributing to the development of a multi-channel content strategy that sets the direction for content, technology, and information architecture enhancements for the website based on user journeys, user research, and testing.
5. Working with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, concise, and accessible content.
6. Ensuring all content meets readability standards, WCAG accessibility requirements, and is optimised for digital channels.
7. Publishing content to the content management system and managing content migration to the enhanced website.
8. Contributing to content governance, style guides, and best practices to maintain content quality.
9. Reporting regularly to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as experience collaborating in agile, multidisciplinary teams and working with stakeholders on content projects. They will also have proficiency in digital publishing (GovCMS/Drupal experience preferred but not essential).
