This is a key leadership position within the External Affairs function, responsible for developing and executing global communications strategies that support business objectives and enhance the company's reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective communications strategies across internal and external channels, including media relations, crisis communications, and issues management.
  • Lead a team of communications professionals in crafting and delivering strategic messaging that resonates with stakeholders, including leadership, employees, and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement corporate narratives, speech materials, and other communications assets that articulate South32's achievements, positions, and future direction.
  • Oversee global brand development and governance, ensuring consistency and alignment with corporate messaging.
  • Partner with site and regionally-based External Affairs teams to implement communications activities aligned with the corporate narrative.
About You

We're seeking a seasoned communications professional with a proven track record in corporate communications, media relations, and team leadership. Ideal candidates will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in senior communications roles, with a focus on corporate communications and media relations.
  • A strong ability to develop and implement communications approaches that support business objectives and enhance the company's reputation.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise messages that align closely with corporate messaging.
  • Strong business acumen and partnering skills, with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • A growth mindset and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
