Job Title: Revenue Officer Sundry Debtors

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Revenue Officer to join our team in the Finance Branch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer services and maintaining sound accounting systems and records.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, and are proficient in financial software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Invoice Management: Issue timely and accurate invoices for a wide range of Council services.
  • Account Statement Processing: Process account statements on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Cashier Liaison: Liaise with the Cashier to ensure incoming remittances are accurately allocated to debtor accounts.
  • Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of Outstanding Balances and Payment Reports to the Debtors Control ledgers.
  • Reporting: Distribute outstanding balance reports to relevant sections on a monthly basis.
Administrative Duties:
  • Trade Account Creation: Generation and creation of new trade accounts, including documentation and trade reference checks.
  • Account Adjustments: Processing credit notes, journals and other account adjustments on a timely basis.
  • Refunds and Adjustments: Investigate and process refunds or adjustments for all credit balances.
  • Recovery Action: Initiate and monitor recovery action for accounts in excess of Council's trading terms.
  • Payment Arrangements: Police payment arrangements by monitoring payments received on a daily basis and following up customers in breach of their arrangements.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Month End Requirements: Ensure all month end requirements associated with the sundry debtors' ledger are fulfilled.
  • Advice and Information: Participate in supplying advice and information to Ratepayers and other Council customers regarding Council rates and policies.
  • Sustainability Goals: Contribute to helping Council deliver its sustainability goals.
