Job Title: Kitchen Hand

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to join our team as a Kitchen Hand.

This is a part-time permanent position working 5 days a week from Monday to Friday with flexible hours available. The ideal candidate will be able to prepare and cook meals and snacks for children in a childcare setting.

The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals and snacks daily as required for the service in consultation with the approved menu.
  • Ensuring all meals and snacks are ready by the time specified by the classroom routines.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen including bench tops, equipment, appliances and utensils.
  • Assisting with the weekly stock-taking and ordering.
  • Complying with all relevant legislation, early childhood regulations and all policies, procedures and work guidelines.

Key skills and qualifications for this role include:

  • Previous experience as a kitchen hand and working within a childcare setting (desirable).
  • Relevant qualifications in Hospitality and/or Commercial Cookery (desirable).
  • Time, task and priority management, and the ability to follow instructions to ensure the safe and efficient running of the kitchen.
  • Ability to contribute as a team member to Workplace Health and Safety issues in the centre.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality standards of health and hygiene within the workplace.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and Food Handling Certificate First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain).
  • Valid Basic Food Handlers certificate.
