About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Shift Manager to join our team at Opal Fibre Packaging in Brooklyn. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for managing the production planning process to meet customer requirements and optimize production efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective production planning strategies to meet customer demands and optimize production throughput.
  • Lead a team of production staff to ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met, including machine productivity levels, quality, and wastage.
  • Implement and maintain a safe working environment, leading by example and upholding high standards of safety and behavior.
  • Develop and implement shift and manning structures to maintain efficient production throughputs, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure all employees understand and adhere to expectations through proper training, coaching, and regular audits.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including payroll, to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in leading long-standing teams on unionized sites is highly regarded.
  • Experience in optimizing production to achieve positive KPI results.
  • Strong communication and adaptability skills.
  • Prior experience in leading employee engagement and developing structured improvement activities.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles and experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives is highly regarded.
