Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will lead a team of experienced UG hard rock mining engineers, overseeing and approving drill and blast plans, analysing mine performance, and providing technical assistance to operational teams.

  • Superior safety orientation and focussed leadership in safe work practices
  • Optimisation of ore extraction
  • Responsible for overseeing and approval of drill and blast plans required to achieve weekly targets
  • Analyse mine performance and identify variances to plans and value drivers according to Time Usage Model (TUM)
  • Support Technical Services team to deliver accurate, safe and cost-effective MOP and Life of Mine Plan (LOMP)
  • Provide technical assistance to operational team on set up of new areas / alterations to existing areas
  • Oversee and approve plans for service installations such as service holes, drain holes, refuge chamber installations and pumping system advances to ensure decline / incline advance is safe and efficient
Required Skills and Qualifications

You will come from a metalliferous underground mining environment, armed with:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years experience within a similar mine
  • Competent user of Deswik and Ventsim
  • Able to work autonomously and cohesively within a high performing professional team environment
