About the Project:

The Lake Macdonald Dam, situated in the Noosa hinterland, is integral to the South East Queensland drinking water supply managed by Seqwater.

John Holland has secured the contract for the most significant upgrade to the dam since its establishment in 1965, as part of the Seqwater Dam Improvement Project. The upgrade will encompass, but is not limited to:

  • Pre-construction Approvals, Procurement, and Site Setup
  • Lake Lowering and Aquatic Salvage
  • Installation of Upstream Coffer Dam
  • Cofferdam, Spillway Demolition, and Working Platform
  • Dam Construction
  • Reinstatement, Rehabilitation, and Demobilisation

As the Lake Macdonald Dam Improvement Project progresses, John Holland is actively seeking a Senior Project Engineer to contribute significantly to the successful execution of this landmark project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee on-site engineering operations through subordinate staff, which may include Project Engineers and/or Cost/Planning Engineers.
  • Gather relevant design parameter information for integration into detailed designs and construction specifications.
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of incoming materials and equipment, verify work drawings, and ensure compliance with site plans and conditions, making necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate the activities of the engineering team, manage workloads, and provide both technical and administrative support to ensure objectives are met efficiently.
  • Ensure project engineering tasks are completed on schedule and within budget, documenting completed work, incurred costs, and utilized materials.
  • Provide accurate forecasts of costs and revenues, implementing corrective actions as necessary to optimize profit margins.
  • Engage in planning for future requirements, including machinery, ancillary equipment, and workforce needs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure the successful completion of construction projects.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant on-site experience.
  • Proven experience in large-scale Civil Infrastructure projects.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide direct reports.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including planning and progress reporting, cost management, and risk assessment.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety practices.
