Strategic Leadership Role for Social Impact

The General Manager (GM), Social Change at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation's social change strategy, focusing on campaign development, digital media, community education, and policy research. This is a fixed-term full-time contract covering maternity leave for 9 months.
Key Responsibilities
As the GM, you will be responsible for monitoring policy developments, gathering relevant information, and providing timely synthesis and analysis of these developments and their implications for campaigns and community activation initiatives. You will prepare various written materials, including policy papers, press releases, opinion pieces, and other relevant documentation. Additionally, you will work closely with international, national, and local organisations through formal and informal coalitions, advising and leading emerging advocacy and campaign opportunities. You will also monitor, activate, and build the presence of people with low vision or blindness on social media, working with the Marketing team to generate proactive and reactive social media content on campaign issues.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need a relevant tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, law, public policy, political science, or international relations. You must have experience at an executive level in a similar role, engaging in systematic advocacy and campaign work, as well as strategic engagement to influence societal change. Experience in managing, leading, and developing staff is essential, as is lived experience of low vision and blindness/disability. You should also have experience working with diverse backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to the principles of Not-for-Profit organisations.
