About the Role

We're seeking a dynamic Senior Software Engineer to join our Tours team as a Full Stack Software Development Lead. As a key member of our technical leadership team, you'll be responsible for architecting scalable and high-performing systems, improving flexibility and UX through feature development, and driving technical infrastructure to support our expanding services.

You'll work closely with our cross-functional teams to design and develop software solutions, ensuring maximum uptime and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you'll provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Create modular tours allowing customers to customise their travel experiences, enhancing user experience and overall satisfaction.
  • Develop features like self-service date changes and multi-product cart capabilities, improving flexibility and convenience.
  • Drive the technical infrastructure needed to support our expanding services, focusing on scalability and reliability.
  • Evaluate opportunities for automation of services, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure all stakeholders have a seamless customer journey experience, from Luxury Escapes members to vendors and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop software solutions, aligning with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards for software development, including agile methodologies, test-driven development, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
  • Maintain APIs to enable integration with third-party services, such as airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and payment processors.
  • Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Proficiency in JavaScript and its frameworks, including React, Node.js, and Typescript.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, specifically PostgreSQL, for database management.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design principles and implementation.
  • Experience in automated testing and continuous integration processes.
  • Knowledge and experience working with microservices architecture.
