We have achieved significant success through the revitalisation of our Carborough Downs underground mine and the reinvigoration of the Broadlea open cut. Our next major milestone is the Ironbark No.1 project, a longwall mine featuring both longwall and bord and pillar operations.

The Health and Safety Coordinator will provide health and safety advice, support, and assistance to personnel at all levels of the business, actively contributing to safe production at the mine.

This role requires an excellent understanding and proven experience in risk-based health and safety systems, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation to site systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a schedule to review key risk assessments and updates to site management plans
  • Staying up-to-date on legislation changes, conducting gap analyses as required, and communicating changes to stakeholders
  • Assisting in the development of site strategies and annual plans
  • Overseeing the quality and effectiveness of the incident and hazard management system, implementing improvement opportunities where identified
  • Ensuring the assurance/critical control management system is effective
  • Ongoing monitoring of the health and safety management system to maintain currency and compliance

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 2 years' practical experience in safety and risk management systems in coal mining, heavy industry, or construction
  • Bachelor's or Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (desired)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desired)
  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety
  • S1, S2, S3, and G2 certifications (desired)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Legislative Framework
  • High self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, cooperative, and facilitation skills
