Job Description

At the Department of Transport and Main Roads, we have a temporary full-time opportunity available for a Senior Transport Infrastructure Planning Specialist. This role is part of one of our largest transport infrastructure programs and offers a great location with flexible working conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage delivery of planning projects aligned to ATAP, On Q, or PAF project delivery frameworks.
  • E nsure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
  • Prepare and deliver submissions and reports relating to planning and technical issues and identify appropriate mitigation strategies to overcome problems or obstacles related to the project/s.
  • E nsure value for money and best practice are achieved.
  • Manage the operational aspects of Transport Planning related projects to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
  • Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the planning, design, and construction of road infrastructure projects.
  • S upervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • P ossess excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated by a track record for concise reports and effective presentations and chairing of key meetings.
  • I dentify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high-risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
