About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine professional to lead our Emergency Department as the Head of Unit. Reporting to the Medical Lead-Acute and Urgent Care, you will be responsible for ensuring the department achieves its strategic and clinical service plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall performance of the Emergency Department, ensuring sustainable financial and environmental performance indicators.
  • Use and analyze data to guide decisions, evaluate outcomes, and promote timely, coordinated, and best care.
  • Collaborate with other Head of Units, Clinicians, and Staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop and implement high-quality emergency models of care, promoting consistency of clinical practice, clinical governance, quality, patient safety, and education across the department.
About the Hospital and Emergency Department

The Royal Adelaide Hospital is South Australia's largest accredited teaching hospital, providing comprehensive care to an estimated 85,000 inpatients and 400,000 outpatients each year. The Emergency Department is one of the largest and most advanced in Australia, seeing more than 75,000 patients annually.

About You

As the Head of Unit, you will be a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist in Emergency Medicine. You will also require a current National Police Clearance (NPC), Working With Children Check (DHS), and Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description.
